Although our founders, Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni, were involved with several projects as executive and line producers since 2002, it wasn’t until 2009 that they launched two independent films under the Arka Mediaworks banner. Both films, “Vedam” and “Maryada Ramanna”, went into production simultaneously and released within 8 weeks of each other. The hugely successful “Vedam” went onto win the Nandi award for best film as well as four Filmfare awards for Best Film, Director, Actor, and Actress. Similarly “Maryada Ramanna”, winner of four Nandi awards, was then remade into Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Bengali.
“Baahubali”, India’s most expensive film, is Arka’s most ambitious project till date. A two-part film, Part I – “Baahubali: The Beginning”, released on 10th July, 2015 with record-breaking box office response. The film released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam simultaneously in a total of 4500 screens world-wide. We are currently in the production process for the much-awaited Part II of the film, slated for release in early 2017.
Through the last 10 years, we have consistently produced award-winning television content. With a library of over 20 television shows, the number of genres that encompass the content produced is as diverse as the languages it’s spanned across. From Kannada thrillers and Bengali quiz shows to Oriya soap operas and Telugu dance contests, Arka Mediaworks has left no stone unturned.
In 2015, we launched two popular T.V. serials; “Naa Peru Meenakshi”, a socio-drama that telecasts on ETV Telugu and “3 Idiots”, a comedy serial thats airs on ETV Plus.
Arka Mediaworks also takes a keen interest in collaborative projects in both film and television. In 2010, we produced the epic fantasy, “Anaganaga O Dheerudu”, in partnership with Disney India Ltd. The film won a Filmfare Award, 2 Nandi Awards, and 2 CineMaa Awards. Our next project, “Panjaa”, was jointly produced by Arka Mediaworks and Sanghamitra Arts and was released in 2011.
